Ordeal at the Traffic commissionerate

This is in continuation with my previous blog. This was a first hand experience with dealing with law earlier it was thru corrupted or secondary means.Though it was not a pleasant experience I swear.

To add to my woes i had to visit the place twice - both the times it looked like God had planned it specifically for me or in other words i was destined for it. It was thursday, 15th of May when the sky was cloudy and the sight of clouds brought a relief to eyes and body in contrast to the cruel heat of the sun. I thought its going to be a relief thinking that at least now there wont be torturing heat to beat my senses out of me.But seems something else was planned for me.When i was almost midway on the flyover it started to rain incessantly. I was completely drenched and driving against a strong breeze and rain. Thanks to my bike that i was able to sustain that despite driving at an average speed of 70-80 kmph....To tell you all guys it was the rain i had seen in gurgaon after a long long time.Facing all the odd when i reached the traffic office a big puddle of rain water was waiting for me, after i parked my bike and went to the office. Though i was completely drenched i thought if i could get my license out then it would worth the beating i had already taken. But when i tried to get thru the muddy water i got my shoes all wet( as my socks were the only thing i thut were dry till then). On reaching the window for the challan submission i found out that since power was not there for quite a while that day their UPS was out of charge and without that they will not be able to process my request.Hence i had to come back empty handed that day and then change my drenched clothes and move to office. This is the end of my first unsuccessful attempt to retrieve my license from the clutches of law.

The next attempt was to come sooner when the forthcoming monday i thought to get my license despite all odds. When i started from home it was already drizzling and situation was similar to last time when i had my unsuccessful attempt. So i tried taking a different route to change my luck( just a thought). When i reached the traffic office it was still drizzling but when i got down my bike it stopped. Thought it was a good sign to move forward plus the thought of getting my license without shelling of any cash was overwhelming me(As told by the cop who had challaned me ). In contrast to my expectation i found a short line of only 10 ppl before me and then when i reached my spot i was asked to produce my originals. But then it was time for the surprise to unfurl when i was slapped a fine of Rs 400 on the charge of violating some pollution act which i had no clue of.I didn't have the patience of arguing as i had suffered a lot and wanted to get away it.But the last curtain was still to be drawn. He asked me to submit the photo copies of the documents. And the photo stat office was almost a km away from the location which meant getting delayed by another half an hour or so.But luckily i had photo copies of the docs which i carried all the time. Thankfully i got all my docs without any more hassles.

Moral of the story : Do not twist your muscle with law.Try dealing with it on the spot.Use any means but get away with it.

I met an honest traffic police :(

Its been long time since i have seen honesty on public display till i faced it face on.

On Monday when i almost took a day off from office for completing some of the house chores.I didnt have the slightest idea i was heading for my first tryst with the traffic police and was going to be booked for breaking the regulations :( .

After placing my orders with the furniture shop nearby i was on my way back home. For the first time i was wearing my helmet for a short distance drive to save my head from the scorching heat.

I saw a police barricade about 200 mtrs away . I did have my chance of u-turning my bike and moving thru another road without any hassles. But as i was overconfident that the police wont budge me off my path as i had my helmet on,i moved on. To my surprise the police asked me to side my vehicle in his typical haryanvi accent {Tau side kar liyo gadi} . I showed him the license and then he asked my RC , pollution certificate and insurance papers. I always used to carry the xerox copies of those. He scrutinized through the papers and then finally told that i had all the papers but xerox copies wont serve the purpose as i have to produce the originals. I asked him to give me 5 mins and i ll collect it from my room and show it to him. But seems he was no mood to listen to my plea. I even told him that every where the xerox copies work . But he was determined not to release me. I sensed that i have to loosen my pockets so try to talk him into it.But he seemed pretty adamant and told me " Beta sirf jake kagaz dikha diyo traffic office mein aur apni license le liyo".

I have been caught more than couple of times by the traffic police but was able to go off without any hassles cos none of them were honest ( once i was without a license and helmet even) but this time i had all the things but the cop turned out to be honest.I am paying the price for the cops honesty.I ll have to go to the traffic office with all my docs one of these days...

But one thing the cop said in the end ... " Beta ab toh tu aish kar ...ab koi bhi pakda toh challan dikha dena ".
